Project Spotlight: Painting a Chicago Church

March 15, 2026

If you’ve followed Jondec for any amount of time, you already know—we paint a lot of local churches. And honestly, it’s something we don’t take lightly. We understand the unique challenges and requirements that come with it—scheduling, sensitive areas, and the need to keep things clean and quiet throughout the entire process.

This recent Chicago church project checked all of the boxes—and we’re happy to say, so did our team.

A Project with a Few Moving Parts (To Say the Least)

At first glance, a repaint might sound straightforward. But in a space like this, there’s a lot happening behind the scenes.

For this project, we needed to coordinate:

  • Scaffolding to safely reach higher areas
  • Masking and containment to protect surrounding surfaces
  • And most importantly… timing everything around weekend and weekday meetings

Because no matter what’s going on during the week, come Sunday morning, everything needs to be ready to go. No paint smell. No equipment in the way. No loose ends.

The Goal: Get In, Get It Done, and Leave It Better Than We Found It

Projects like this are all about balance. On one hand, you want to deliver a high-quality, long-lasting finish. On the other hand, you need to work efficiently and respectfully within an active space.

Our team focused on:

Keeping the work area clean and contained
Between services, events, and day-to-day activity, there’s no room for dust, debris, or lingering disruption. We used careful masking and containment methods to protect surrounding surfaces and keep everything tidy as we worked. The goal was simple: if someone walked in midweek, it should feel organized and under control—not like a construction zone.

Staying on schedule without cutting corners
Timing was everything on this project. With weekend services on the calendar, there was a firm deadline every single week. That meant planning ahead, coordinating each phase of the work, and making steady progress without rushing the details.

Making sure every section was fully prepped and finished before services resumed
There’s no such thing as “we’ll come back and finish that later” when a space needs to be ready right away. Each section had to be completed, cleaned, and fully put back together before the doors opened again. That includes proper prep, clean paint lines, and making sure everything looks polished and intentional. When the congregation returned, the space was ready—no distractions, no unfinished areas, just a clean, refreshed environment.

The Result: A Fresh, Clean Space Ready for What Matters Most

Once everything was complete, the transformation really spoke for itself.

A fresh coat of paint doesn’t just improve how the space looks—it changes how it feels. Brighter, cleaner, and ready to welcome people back in without distraction.

What This Means for Your Project

A lot of people wonder: “Can painting be done without interrupting our schedule?”

The short answer is yes—with the right planning. Whether it’s a church, office, or any actively used space, the key is:

  • Clear scheduling
  • Proper containment
  • A team that respects your timeline

That’s exactly how we approach every project. Because at the end of the day, it’s not just about painting—it’s about making the process easy for you.

Can We Help with Your Next Painting Project?

This wasn’t our first major church painting project, and it won’t be our last. Over the years, we’ve had the opportunity to work in a wide range of active spaces, and one thing stays the same—these projects require thoughtful planning, clear communication, and a team that understands what’s at stake.

Whether you’re coordinating around weekly services, managing a busy facility, or just trying to figure out where to start, we’re here to make the process as smooth as possible. From full repaints to smaller, targeted updates, we’ll help you create a plan that works for your space, your schedule, and your priorities. No mess, no stress.
