About Jondec Painting

The story of a music teacher and a summer gig that hit just the right note.

Jondec Painting was started in 1987 by John Van Groningen. But let’s back up just a bit… He actually began his career as a high school music teacher, and filled his summers by working for a professional painter. It was a wonderful experience, and John was grateful to receive excellent training. You could say it struck a real chord (last music pun, we promise).

After six years, John decided to flip the arrangement, painting full time while using his musical skills part-time in local churches.

Almost four decades later, Jondec has become one of the most established painting companies in Chicago's south suburbs, with a team, a spray shop, a strong reputation across residential and commercial work, and a client list that ranges from family homes to HOAs, churches, schools, medical facilities, and commercial properties throughout the region.

The work has changed a lot since 1987, but the standards haven't.

What we do.

We refresh, repaint, and transform homes and businesses without the cost and disruption of full renovations. A coat of paint on tired cabinets, new color on weathered exteriors, a repainted entryway that completely changes the feel of a building. 

We've refined and tuned our process over the years, and have built our whole company around making the process easy for the people who hire us. No mess. No stress.

Who we work with.

Our residential clients are homeowners who care about how their home looks, and care about who they trust with the project. Our commercial clients are property managers, facility leads, HOA boards, building owners, and operations directors who need a vendor that won't become another item on their to-do list. Our work spans interiors and exteriors, cabinets and trim, specialty finishes, multi-building projects, and ongoing building maintenance.
