Another A+ Paint Job! Interior Painting for a Tinley Park School

Our Jondec Painting team is known for house painting, but did you know that we have full commercial painting capabilities too? We love applying our same skills and standards, just on a larger scale.

In this case, we had the opportunity to refresh a local Tinley Park school before that bell rang for the first time. After the wild and rocky year our students have had, it felt good to provide them with a warm, colorful welcome.

Planning and Prepping

Every commercial painting project starts with carefully mapping out the scope and our approach. The schedule is also all-important, especially in a case like this. We’re used to working off-hours and on weekends, as needed, just to make sure that our painting doesn’t interfere with daily operations.

After planning the details, we got to work prepping the halls and surfaces. These initial steps lay the groundwork for an efficient painting process.

Isn’t this mural awesome? We carefully masked it off, protecting against any damage as we worked around it.

Take a Look At These Fresh Hallway Paint Colors!

Bright and vibrant, these colors are much more fun and inviting than the original white. We carried the palette right up the stairwell too, keeping that happy vibe going.

Just in case you’re interested in the more technical details, we used a product called
Ultra Spec Scuff-X from Benjamin Moore. It’s a high-performance latex coating, specifically designed for high-traffic commercial spaces. Perfect for a school, right? Repeated cleaning and scrubbing is no issue, and it has scuff-resistant properties to help maintain the integrity of that fresh eggshell finish.

Chicagoland’s weather is wild—learn the ideal temperatures and timing for exterior painting so your
April 27, 2025
If you’ve ever lived in the Chicagoland area for more than a week, you already know the drill: it can be 75 and sunny on Monday, and snowing by Friday. So when it comes to exterior painting, the phrase “timing is everything” might be the understatement of the year. Temperature plays a huge role in how paint performs, and doing the job when the weather isn't right can lead to peeling, bubbling, or the dreaded “we just painted this and it already looks weird" problem. So let’s talk about the best temps for exterior painting in Chicagoland , and why it’s not as simple as just checking today’s high. Why Temperature Matters More Than You Think When you paint your house, you’re not just putting color on the wall—you’re starting a chemical process. Paint needs to cure , which is way more demanding than just drying. For curing to go smoothly, temperature and moisture levels need to cooperate. Too cold, and the paint thickens, doesn’t stick well, and may never cure properly. You might see cracking, chalkiness, or even total failure after the first rain. Too hot, and paint dries before it can level out, leading to brush marks, bubbles, and a finish that looks more DIY than you were going for (even if you are DIY-ing it). The Goldilocks Zone: Not Too Hot, Not Too Cold So what’s the sweet spot? Daytime temps between 50°F and 85°F are ideal. Overnight lows should stay above 45°F for at least 48 hours after painting. Humidity below 70% helps paint cure evenly.
